Eligible Nationalities:
This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Under the age of 40 with a master’s degree
- English proficiency (TOEFL 85 or IELTS 6.5 for English-taught programs)
- GPA above 3.0 on a 4-point scale, or 80/100
Application Procedure:

(The passport should be valid beyond September 2024).
- Notarized highest educational qualification
If the applicant is a current student, they must submit a prospective graduation certificate or a certificate of enrollment issued by their current school.
- Academic transcripts
(from the undergraduate level onwards). The scanned transcripts should include the academic records from the undergraduate, master’s (if applicable), and doctoral (if applicable) programs up to the most recent semester. The transcripts must be issued and stamped by the academic affairs office, graduate school, or relevant student management department of the attending university.
- Proof of language proficiency
please refer to “Section Four: Eligibility Criteria”.
Study plan proposal
(significant material for review). A study plan (at least 1000 words) should be submitted in either Chinese or English. The study plan must be signed by the Chinese supervisor.
- Recommendation letters
Two letters of recommendation (written in either Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors must be submitted. One of the letters must be from a supervisor at Southwest University. These letters should focus on the applicant’s objectives for studying in China, the cooperation between the Chinese and foreign supervisors or inter-university exchanges (if applicable), as well as an evaluation of the student’s comprehensive abilities and future development. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form
completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant), within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. (Download the physical examination form at

- A non-criminal record report
issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
How to Apply?
Step One: Online Application
- Applicants must submit their applications on both the “CSC Study in China” website at http://www.campuschina.org and the “SWU International Student Service system” website at https://swu.17gz.org/
- When completing the information on the “CSC Study in China” website, select Program Category “Type B”. Southwest University’s Agency Number is 10635.
- Enter personal information and upload documents to the “Supporting Documents” section as required. Click “Submit” to complete the application.
Step Two: Exam Arrangement
- After your application information is approved, the relevant college (faculty) will notify you by email about the exam and interview.
Note: Please ensure your email address is correct and check your email regularly to avoid missing the notice of exam arrangement.
Step Three: Admission
- Applicants can check the admission results in the “Chinese Government Scholarship Study Abroad Management Information System”. If admitted, students must register at Southwest University within the stipulated time.
- During registration, the original highest academic certificate and transcripts, the Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form, Non-criminal Record, and the original language proficiency certificate will be verified.
Note: Requirements concerning your registration at SWU will be notified in due time in accordance with China’s immigration policy.
